Selmar

The Northern Remnant

Selmar is the northern remnant of the original nation of Solmere. It does not see itself as a new nation, it sees itself as Solmere. The south simply has not accepted this yet.

When Solmere split, the north kept the government, the title of The Solvar, and the conviction that the rebellion was wrong. The Solvar started the war with Solmara. It has been grinding at Thessa's Gate ever since, neither side able to force a decisive crossing.

Character

Stubborn, long-memoried, not easily impressed. The war is Selmar's ongoing project, driven by the man at the top. The people are harder for it. They have been at war their entire lives.

Government

Ruled by The Solvar: the title carried over from unified Solmere. The current Solvar is a man who taxes hard, tolerates no opposition, and frames the war with Solmara as justice. He is neither the first nor the last person to do that.
