Codex VI·

Grymhold

Mountain, mine, forge. Built by two peoples who can do together what neither can alone.

The Land

South of Aurenthaal, to the west of The Greylands and east of Drogarde. A vast mountain range, ancient and mineral-rich, with a capital carved deep into the rock.

The Partnership

Dwarves and gnomes have coexisted in Grymhold in a partnership that has outlasted empires. Dwarves provide engineering rigour and long institutional memory. Gnomes provide innovation and the willingness to try things nobody has tried. Together they build things neither could alone.

Character

Mineral-rich, self-sufficient, technically advanced, and deeply comfortable with their own company. They do not need outside trade, they engage in it on their own terms. The quality of Grymhold's metalwork is sought across the continent. No other nation's smiths can match it.

The tension between dwarven patience and gnomish restlessness is permanent, productive, and occasionally explosive, sometimes literally.

People

Dwarves and Gnomes. The eastern border bleeds into orc and goblin wildlands, Grymhold has generations of knowledge about which passes are safer and which warbands can be negotiated with.

Capital

Thigdarom

Carved inside the mountain range itself, not at its foot or against its walls, but within it. Forges and workshops run at all hours. The sound of hammering does not stop.
